First time Mum Mother of Baby Kerri. Born 30/08/09, 7lb 14ozs. Michelle was my very first Mum that I taught. She went in to hospital with high blood pressure and was told at 5pm that she wouldn’t be going home as she was already 4cms dilated, which came as a big surprise to her & Kevin! Baby Kerri was born @12.50am with a little ventouse as her heart rate started to accelerate right at the end. 8hrs labour with No pain relief!

"A wonderful and natural way to give birth. The breathing and relaxing techniques keep you focused and in control. Enables partners to be more involved in the joyous experience. Baby is very calm and relaxed because of easy birth. Would recommend it to everyone!"- Michelle, Kevin & Kerri xxx

First time Mum Mother of Baby Girl Elsie. Born Thurs 22/10/09 - Esme's waters broke at 11.30am didn’t think she was surging but went onto hospital at 3.15pm where nurse checked her and she was 6-8cms dilated! Elsie was born 6.25pm, 7lb 10ozs. No pain relief only a little gas and air! 7hrs labour!

"We feel as a couple that Hypnobirthing had a very positive effect on our first birthing experience. The techniques involved enabled us to understand the birthing body and empowered us to work with it and take control of the actual event. We were calm and relaxed throughout our daughter’s birth which we feel has led to having a beautiful calm baby. We would thank Marie for her help in assisting us with the Hypnobirthing programme and for her support throughout."

Marie, unfortunately I will not be able to attend on the 23rd Feb, but wish you success and hope that for the expecting parents that they use the course to help them with their birthing.

A wee pic of Elsie is attached. As you will see she is dressed up a bit, normally wears dungaree's

Regards Esme"

First time Mum Mother of Baby Boy Adam. Born 7.17am after birth show at 11pm on 7/11/09, 7.17mins labour! One of my star mums as she had a pain free labour and said it seemed she spent longer in triage than in labour, so too experienced time distortion!

"When we found out we were expecting our first baby, we were overjoyed and excited but also apprehensive and fearful of the labour and pain we would have to go through in order to have our baby in our arms. However, after completing the hypnobirthing course, we embraced labour and enjoyed every moment of the most amazing experience. We had alleviated and reconditioned our minds away from pain and all our fears long before labour began, so we were able to relax and breathe our baby into the world, free from pain and pain relieving drugs just as nature had intended. There was no drama but instead a very relaxed and peaceful environment, allowing our baby to enter this world in a very calm state and indeed remain a very relaxed baby.

We strongly believe that our birthing experience would have been very different if we hadn't embraced and practised hypnobirthing. The very simple techniques and the realisation that birth did not have to be feared, but instead was the most natural thing in the world, were instilled in us by Marie our practitioner. Hypnobirthing has provided us with life skills that are not only applicable to birthing but can also be utilised in everyday life.

Thank you Marie!"

First time Mum, Mother of Baby Oliver, Born 29/10/09, 7lb 14ozs. Evelyn went into hospital and was told she would probably have a C-Section as baby was back to back (PB) and that she would be induced the next day but she went on her own that night. As baby was back to back (PB) she had a lot of pain, went to 5cms using only the breathing techniques and then took an epidural. While Evelyn was using her Birth breath midwife told her to carry on as she never seen a baby come out that way before! She wrote

"My husband and I found the Hypnobirthing course very informative; it helped prepare us both for the arrival of our little miracle. It further increased our existing knowledge of childbirth; it incorporated relaxation which was to be of great help to both of us in the latter weeks of pregnancy. Our relaxations cds and scripts were part of our night time routine, little baby Oliver moved away to the cds when mummy relaxed! It made you aware of the choices that were there for you and your baby!

I had mild pre-eclampsia but still managed to start my labour without any intervention but due to position of babe had to have epidural at 5cms. Both my husband and I would encourage any pregnant couple to attend hypnobirthing, keep up the good work Marie x"

First time Mum Mother of Baby Girl Sadhbh, 8lb 13ozs, went to hospital fully dilated at 4pm and baby girl delivered at 6.59pm! Used HypnoBirthing only throughout, Great Birth! Tried a little gas & air at hospital but felt a drunken feeling and that of not being in control so refused anymore. When she presented at hospital they were very surprised that she was so far on in her labour and she had a wonderful birth saying that the time seemed to have flew by. John (Daddy) too remained calm throughout.

"I first heard about hypnobirthing from my husband whose two female work colleagues had used it as part of their birthing experience and claimed it to work brilliantly. When I attended my first antenatal meeting the midwife was promoting hypnobirthing also so I thought I may as well try it out. Previous to this decision I had read all the pregnancy literature before and after birth but none whatsoever on the actual birth itself as I was terrified and just thought the less known the better and sure it had to happen anyway. So my husband and I along with three other couples did the hyponobirthing course over two weekends which were long but very worthwhile.

Hypnobirthing advocates remaining calm and relaxed throughout pregnancy and birth and therefore making the birthing experience a more pleasurable experience. It didn't fail to work as I still can't believe how calm I felt and how positive experience both my husband and I had throughout. The classes helped make both my husband and I more informed about various choices and most importantly promoted relaxed breathing for the two stages of labour. My husband would be slightly more nervous about hospitals etc and I wasn't sure if he would be hindrance or a help during the birth but hypnobirthing definitely made both of us far more confident and empowered with the when making choices.

We practised quite a bit with the scripts and cd and we bought the actual music cd that Marie on the course itself as we found it to be most relaxing whilst practising. In the early stages we tried possibly too hard to get the breathing right but once we relaxed it all seemed to fall into place. Moving on to the birth, I walked almost 2miles the day before I gave birth (at slow pace)!!! with my family but felt great. That night I went into labour but pain was manageable, mostly backache in my case. The following day I visited the midwife and she told me that I was 4cms dilated. Delighted with my news I asked to go home but promised to go into hospital later that day. Up until now the surges were about ten mins apart. When I went back home it was about 2.45pm and within an hour and a half the surges came about every two mins. I continued my breathing and was very relaxed.

When we arrived at the hospital the midwife explained that I was fully dilated. They couldn't believe how calm I was, neither could I! In hospital I found the birthing ball very good and we continued to do our breathing. The midwife was very positive about our approach to labour and she read the hypnobirthing book whilst we practised our relaxation with the scripts and cd. You really have to have a reliable partner who has practised with you. Anyway, within two hours I gave birth to a beautiful and healthy baby girl, Sadhbh, 8lbs 6ozs.

My whole birthing experience was fantastic. I didn't use any drugs or gas during the labour but that is not to say that I wasn't open-minded or flexible to the need of them if I felt I wanted to use pain relief. Instead I used the birthing techniques along with a pregnancy tens machine to help during and between surges. I must admit that I found only the last twenty minutes tough but I put this down to my lack of practice of the final birth breathing and would place more emphasis on this particular breathing technique next time round. All in all, a great experience and even the midwife was relaxed and calm. The following day I was inundated with midwives asking about hypnobirthing and how did I do it.

Finally, if pregnant again I will revisit hypnobirthing without a second thought and would recommend anyone to try it as it worked for us."

Third time Mum of Baby Eunan, Born 30/10/09, 7lb 9ozs. Quoted by text the day after.

“Thanks Marie for all your help because this really was the birth I had wished for. Baby is really settled and just adorable! xx"

"Hypnobirthing is a must for any pregnant woman. Marie's class was so positive and uplifting and really helped address the fears that so often surround the whole concept of childbirth. Hypnobirthing allows women to tap into their own powerful natural strength and ability so that a calm and peaceful birth is actually possible. The very specific breathing techniques alongside powerful mind training helped me to have the most beautiful birth experience. I would highly recommend hypnobirthing and Marie's class. Your baby will be forever grateful!!!"
